PROJECT X

Sex education is a big taboo for many; but not for us at Kanal. To address this issue in Kerala, we launched an innovative campaign called Project X in 2018. Project X is Kerala's first comprehensive sexuality education initiative, So far, it has benefited 43826 children and 1148 teachers across the state. It provides right based, scientific intersectional and feminist dissemination of age appropriate sex education. Currently in its third phase, the project is being implemented in the Thiruvananthapuram district in collaboration with the district administration. By promoting awareness and challenging misconceptions, Project X helps young individuals navigate adolescence with confidence and resilience. A district-level committee, chaired by the District Development Commissioner, oversees the initiative to ensure quality and follow-up on reported cases.
COLLECTOR'S SUPER 100
The Collector's Super 100 program, initiated by the Thiruvananthapuram district administration along with Kanal Innovations, runs under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme. The project aims to provide wider exposure to STEM related higher education and careers, and aims to enhance interest and academic performance in STEM subjects to selected coastal and tribal girl students from classes 9th to 12th in the district, promising a better future for them.
Currently the project is running in its second phase and it ensures that each student gets a platform for escalated learning with peers from different parts of the district, leading to greater exposure in social, cultural and educational realms. It aims to provide a supportive learning environment, and guide the students towards academic excellence. By creating a strong communication channel between teachers, parents and other stakeholders involved, the students benefit from a collaborative and supportive ecosystem, leading to improved academic outcomes, increased confidence, and enhanced overall well-being.
CARE
Comprehensive Assistance and Resources for Empowering or Project CARE is a recent initiative undertaken by the Thiruvananthapuram District Administration and Kanal Innovations, aimed to enhance the academic performance, psychological well being and life skills among the students at Sree Chitra Home studying in classes 5 to 7. This is a comprehensive initiative that guides the students through the right track towards a healthy and collaborative existence, and excel in their academics by mastering the basics in foundational subjects. Because all a child needs a little encouragement and an understanding, nurturing environment.
PARENT UP
Launched in 2025 in Thrissur, Parent Up is a community-based education program designed to empower parents. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Thrissur District Administration, the Women and Child Development Department, and Kanal Innovations. Our mission is to foster a new generation of parents with a scientific, evidence-based, and feminist approach to raising children. Through 100 sessions in the first phase, we are reaching out to 8,500 parents and 1,500 local government members, providing them with the tools and knowledge for democratic parenting. We believe that by changing the way we parent, we can create stronger families and communities.
